Wellness Retreat - Community Cancer Coalition
What is it?
The wellness retreat is a unique event offering opportunities for personal
growth through activities tailored to meet the needs of adults experiencing
cancer and their support persons. The annual retreat provides:- Relaxation
- Self-growth
- Education
methods for learning to deal with day-to-day challenges
- A chance to
share and network with other people whose lives have been affected
by cancer
All activities are offered in the supportive environment of beautiful St.
Crispin's Episcopal Conference Center.
Who can attend?
The retreat is designed for adults with any form of cancer. A spouse, adult friend,
or an adult family member is welcome.
What do I bring?
Participants should bring comfortable clothing, and if you like to explore,
bring walking shoes. The weather couldbe cool this time of year, so don't forget
a jacket.

- From Oklahoma City: Take I-40 to exit 200 and exit
right (south) on Highway 99
Travel about 10 miles south to Highway 9 at Seminole, then turn left (east)
Go about 7 1/2 miles, and the Conference Center entrance will be on the
right (south) side of the road
- From Tulsa: Take the HE
Bailey Turnpike (I-44) west to the Highway 99 exit near Stroud
Travel south to Highway 9 at Seminole, then turn left (east)

What is the cost?
The conference is free and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, snack, T-shirt
and activity materials. For those who wish to help offset the costs, a suggested
donation of $10 per person can be made upon arrival at the conference.
What Are the Accomodations?
St. Crispin's Episcopal Conference Center is located on 400 Acres in the rolling,
oak-covered hills of Seminole County within easy driving distance of Oklahoma
City and Tulsa. Quiet trails and clear lakes make the conference center a place
where re-creation becomes a natural part of the St. Crispin's experience. St.
Crispin's offers fully modern retreat and conference facilities.
Do I need to register?
We appreciate advance registration to help us plan for meals and
supplies.

Mellisa Craft, RN, PhD, AOCN, has beeen an oncology nurse for
27 years. She works at Breast
Imaging of Oklahoma (BIO) located in Edmond. At
BIO, Melissa conducts a high risk imaging program
which provides assessments and bi-annual imaging for
800 women who are at higher than average risk of
breast cancer. She works closely with the newly-diagnosed breast
cancer patients, BIO providing
education and support throughout the cancer journey.
"One Voice...A Cancer Legacy."
Darla Thompson, at the age of 23, was
diagnosed with inoperable Hodgkin’s
Disease. She described this diagnosis as her "wake-up"
call. At the time, Darla was
uninsured. Not only did she have to fight for
her life multiple times due to reoccurring
tumors (breast, colon, and uterus) she also had to fight
for the right to have access to healthcare. So began
her life’s mission. Darla set about helping individuals
who were uninsured and too ill to fight for themselves,
to find the necessary resources for medical treatment.
"Zumba with Kimba!"
Kimba Biggers, BS, is an AFFA
certified group fitness instructor and
personal trainer certified in ZUMBA©. She
works for the INTEGRIS Pacer Fitness
Center. She teaches SilverSneaker® 1 & 2,
kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, core training,
BOSU®, spin, water fitness and Kidfit. Kim has a passion
to help others with all levels of fitness.
